It’s a done deal! Puerto Rican superstar Jennifer Lopez will return to American Idol next season! FOX made it official this morning that all three Idol judges: Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez will be back for the hit show's 11th season, which is set to premiere on Sunday, January 22, 2012.
"Having both Jennifer and Steven return to Idol in 2012 alongside Randy is such a positive reflection on what was a wonderful and hugely successful season last year, and everyone is delighted," "Idol" creator and exec producer Simon Fuller said in a statement.
While it was widely reported that Lopez has been on the fence about returning to Idol next season, it has also been reported that Fox has offered her $20 million to return to the hit show ($8 million more than she made for judging season 10). At this time, we cannot confirm Lopez's new salary, but we can tell you this: If J.Lo does get $20 million for next season, she will become the second highest paid reality star on TV, behind former judge, Simon Cowell. Not too shabby!
And while auditions for the new season began in June, the judges don’t typically start filming their audition segments until late August, which means Lopez signed the papers just in time! On August 10, executive producer Nigel Lythgoe told Ryan Seacrest that J.Lo would be back, but the news did not become official until today.
