New American idol judge Jennifer Lopez and fellow judges Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler, visited The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night to talk about the new season of Idol, premiering January 19th.
And when Jay Leno suggested that Ryan Seacrest and Randy Jackson need no introduction (because everyone knows who they are already), but that the world wasn't familiar with new judges Lopez and Tyler, La Lopez took the bait and played along: "My name is Jennifer Lopez, I'm from New York, I've done a few movies, I've done a few records, and I'm going to be a new judge on American idol," she said.
Lopez went on to talk about how she landed the gig of AI Judge. "I actually got a call from the show's creator, Simon Fuller," she explains. "I wasn't sure at first. I was like, 'I don't know. I have a record coming out this year, I have things happening.'
But eventually the long-time Idol fan started to get excited about the opportunity. "I thought about how much I love the show and how much I've enjoyed it over the years," she said. "I thought it would be a blast to be involved."
So far, so good, says Lopez, who says she's having a blast working with her friends. "We’re having so much fun. It'’s the easiest job I've ever had!" she said.
