Jennifer Lopez on 'Idol' Auditions: "I've cried"

FOX

During a press stop during American Idol auditions, J.Lo shared some advice for contestants who have tried to earn a ticket to Los Angeles by performing one of her hits:  "It was cute, super entertaining and flattering, but no." It appears La Lopez would rather contestants perform songs most suited to their voices and personalities.

"They know we're not out to cut them down or make a joke of them," she told reporters. "We're trying to mentor them to the next step."

Adding fuel to rumors that the pop diva is more like Paula than Simon she admitted that she has been emotional through the process. "I've cried," Lopez said. "We get a lot of elation when we put them through and devastation, almost, when they're not. But it's been a ball."

Mariela Rosario,

I'm a raging opinionista and I love to share my ramblings on everything from pop culture to food to stuff that makes me laugh & cry! I've worked in all types of media (TV, film, print) and was previously the online editor at Latina magazine before joining Mamás Latinas. On most nights you can find me working my way through my library of cookbooks or playing with my puppy Lola (my only child so far). I have a wonderful hubby who shares my passion for any and all kinds of travel. Together, we've formed a semi-professional wine drinking team.
