The Bronx girl may soon be heading to Ohio for a live remake of Bye Bye Birdie. NBC has reportedly tapped the singer to star in the classic musical, set to air in 2017. According to the LA Times, Bye Bye Birdie Live! will be based on the 1960 Tony Award-winning Broadway show, which was later featured in film in 1963.

Lopez will take on the role of Rosie, which was originally played by Chita Rivera. The singer’s character is the girlfriend and assistant of Birdie’s manager, Albert. The musical tells the story of Conrad Birdie, a new rock ‘n’ roll music star who plans for a publicity stunt on The Ed Sullivan Show.
