Remember Jennifer Lopez’s adorable 11-year-old son Ty Ventura in the 2002 romantic comedy, Maid in Manhattan? Well the actor who played him, Tyler Posey, is all grown up (19 years old), tall (5’10) — and hairy!
Of course, when we say hairy, we’re talking about Tyler’s new role in Teen Wolf, MTV’s upcoming TV remake of the popular 1985 movie and its subsequent sequel.
This is the first lead role as an adult for Posey, who has guest starred on shows like ABC's Lincoln Heights and Brothers & Sisters in recent years. In the new series, the charming actor will play Scott McCall, a dorky high-school student who gains new powers (and becomes irresistible to the ladies) after being attacked by a wolf.
The series, which is equal parts drama and comedy, will be darker than the original. "It has a fresh take and is very different from the original," said MTV Senior Vice President Liz Gateley. "It has more of an American Werewolf in Paris feel to it."
Aside from his starring role in Teen Wolf, Posey, who is Mexican, Irish and English, is also the front man for the band Lost in Kostko, for which he sings and plays bass.
Fun fact: When the movie Twilight was being cast, Tyler was considered for the role of Jacob Black. Could he be the next Taylor Lautner? We think so!
