We’re pleased to announce that there’s a new Latino in town! Half-Puerto Rican triple threat Jaime Cepero will be making his television debut on NBC’s highly anticipated new musical drama SMASH opposite Debra Messing, Angelica Huston, Christian Borle and Katharine McPhee. In this show about the blood, sweat and tears that go into making a successful Broadway show, Cepero will play sly and determined Ellis, the assistant to Broadway musical writer Tom Leavitt (Borle).
This Boston native, who can sing, act and play piano, got his start in theatre in New York workshop productions of The Voice Within, Harlem Stages and The Concubine as well as the 75th anniversary national tour of Porgy & Bess according to NBC.com. He also performed in regional theatre productions of Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar and Theater District. If you think you’ve heard his voice before, you may be right, as he has also voiced American Eagle Outfitters commercials and played backup vocalist to artists such as Kameko and Tituss Burgess.
We know we’re excited to see Cepero’s many talents shine through with the best of them! SMASH premieres tonight at 10pm EST on NBC.
