Introducing 'Rob!' Star Claudia Bassols

This Thursday, the upcoming comedy show Rob! is set to premiere on CBS. The show centers on an architect (played by Rob Schneider) who marries into a tight-knit Mexican family and has a slew of well-known Latino actors such as Cheech Marin and Lupe Ontiveros in tow.

One star, who may not be as well known as her Rob! costars, is definitely worthy of an introduction in our book. Meet 32-year-old Spanish actress Claudia Bassols, who plays Maggie, the gorgeous and slender new wife of Schneider’s character.

Born and raised in Barcelona, Spain, Bassols has extensive acting experience in her native country; the actress has appeared in some of Spain’s most renowned television series such as sitcom Mis adorables vecinos (My Lovely Neighbors) and award-winning soap opera Amar en Tiempos Revueltos. She is a graduate of Barcelona's Coco Comin School of Musical Theatre and later moved to North Carolina, Los Angeles, and even Australia to continue her studies in drama.

Though most of her acting credits derive from her native Spain, don’t think Bassols is a stranger to American television. Back in 2008, Bassols starred alongside Gwyneth Paltrow in the PBS food and travel series Spain... On the Road Again. Each episode of the series covered a different area of Spain and followed Bassols, Paltrow, a well-known chef, and food writer as they explored the country's history and culinary traditions. Bassols has also starred in Blackout, Paintball, and Emulsion. The actress’ most recent role is in this year’s thriller The Eagle Path, which also stars Cuba Gooding Jr. If this isn’t impressive enough, Bassols is also trilingual – she speaks English, Spanish, and Catalan.

So how will a seasoned actress such as Bassols fare in Rob!? Guess we will have to wait until this Thursday to find out. The show premieres on CBS at 8:30/7:30c.
