Introducing the New Latina Star of “Single Ladies!”

When Stacey Dash quit her starring role on VH1’s hit show Single Ladies last month, we were bummed that we’d no longer have a Latina star on the VH1 dramedy. Today, we were relieved to read the news that another Latina—half-Dominican, half-Puerto Rican actress Denise Vasi—has been tapped to replace Dash on the hit VH1 show!

Vasi, who is best known for her role as Randi Hubbard—a “hooker with a heart of gold” on ABC’s All My Childrenwill star opposite co-leads LisaRaye McCoy and Charity Shea on the show’s second season. The gorgeous Afro-Latina will play Raquel, a close friend of Keisha's (McCoy) who is a savvy business woman from a prominent Southern family on a quest to discover passion. “Denise is the perfect addition to the Single Ladies cast,” Executive Producer Queen Latifah said. “She is bringing a fun, new element to the show.”

Jeff Olde, VH1’s EVP of original production and programming, agrees: “It was a rare and wonderful moment during the audition when everyone in the room immediately knew we had found our Raquel,” he said. “Denise’s beauty, style, grace and humor leap from the screen.”

The second season of Single Ladies premieres in early summer.
