America was introduced to Blake Jenner in a big way on season two of Oxygen's hit show, The Glee Project, when he was selected as one of 14 contestants for the reality show. The Cuban-American entertainer—who claimed he'd never had a singing lesson—wowed judges and audiences alike, ultimately winning the competition and securing a seven-episode arc on Glee. He was, as one judged put it, “The Sweetheart of the competition.”
Now this sweetheart plays the loveable Ryder Lynn, a boy with a troubled past whom Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) akes under his wing. Jenner proves week after week that he's a triple threat who can sing, dance and act in a big way. His performance in “You’re the one that I Want,” made it clear to Glee fans that he is definitely the one that they want. Let’s just say, he gave us chills and they're multiplying!
Jenner also channeled John Travolta in a electrifying rendition of "Grease Lightning," (those hips!), and won our hearts with his tender and soulfoul voice during a group performance of "Some Nights." Que guapo! And who can forget his first performance on "Glee," singing "Jukebox Hero" with Finn?!
But things weren’t always so peachy for the Miami Native, who moved to Los Angeles to fulfill a lifelong dream of making it in the entertainment business. He even confessed to working as a Parrot Salesman and hearing countless “No’s” before his big break on the Glee Project.
Now the 20-year-old star seems to have found a home on Glee. We can only guess more TV and movie appearances are next. Because let’s face it, is there anything this guy can’t do? Maybe write poetry and short stories? Oh wait, he can do that too!
