Are you a telenovela junkie? If you need your daily fix of stars like Cuban hottie William Levy and Mexican actress Maite Perroni, you'll love this news! Fans will now be able to watch their Spanish-language soap operas online through a new partnership between Univision and Hulu. The agreement between the network and website (which offers ad-supported streaming video of TV shows), was announced yesterday.
The offering, set to launch later this year, will bring hours of not only telenovelas, but tons of Spanish-language variety shows, reality series, and comedies. Hulu users will have next-day access to some of current season programming, while Hulu Plus subscribers will have access to old shows as well, meaning hundreds of hours of archived content.
Hulu’s senior vice president of content acquisition, Andy Forssell, said the company was very exciting about working with Univision “to serve the broad Hispanic audience in the U.S.” He added that it would enable Hulu’s advertisers “to connect with a young, very fast growing part of the population who haven’t been able to access enough culturally relevant Spanish-language content via the Internet." We're glad they’ve caught on!
