George Lopez & Eva Longoria Talk ALMA Awards

Despite both Eva Longoria and George Lopez’s shows reaching their end this year (Desperate Housewives and Lopez Tonight respectively), both stars’ schedules remain as busy as ever. In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, the Mexican American pair spoke about hosting this year’s National Council of La Raza (NCLR) ALMA Awards.  The one-hour primetime special, which celebrates positive portrayals of Latinos in television, film, and music, returns after a yearlong hiatus and will be broadcast on NBC on Friday, Sept. 16.

“She comes in, gets it done,” Lopez said of Longoria, who also serves as executive producer of the show.

“Especially with the ALMA Awards, they think they know what Latino means and what needs to be out there as a representation of us and George and I are perfect examples of being Mexican Americans,” she said.  “We’re American with Mexican heritage and so we don’t like to hit people over the head with a tortilla but at the same time, we like to celebrate our passion and our heritage.”
