The wait it over! On Wednesday, Entertainment Weekly gave fans an inside look at the highly-anticipated show The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.
The FX series will follow the murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace, who was killed on the steps of his Miami mansion by serial killer Andrew Cunanan. Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramirez will play the late designer, while Penelope Cruz will portray Donatella Versace.
While many initially questioned the decision to cast the Spanish actress for the role of the Italian fashion icon's sister, Cruz looked unrecognizable in a platinum wig and high-slit fuchsia gown perfectly channeling Donatella's signature look. "It was very moving, sometimes disturbing,” Cruz said about shooting in the mansion. “We all felt a very powerful energy. It just made me have more passion to tell this story.”
Back in April, it was announced that Ricky Martin was also set to star in the third installment of the FX Limited. The “Living La Vida Loca” hitmaker, who is starring alongside Cruz and Ramírez, is set to play Antonio D'Amico, Versace's longtime partner.
Although production for Ryan Murphy’s latest installment of his American Crime Story franchise began back in April, the series is set to debut in early 2018.
