Christina Aguilera won't be watching FOX's American Idol to prepare for her role as a celebrity vocal coach on NBC's upcoming new show, The Voice. Why? Because the singer says she's never seen a single episode of the monster hit.
"I've never done television before. I don't watch a lot of it. I can't even say that I've actually seen a full episode of the other musical shows that are out there such as American Idol," Aguilera tells USA Today.
Aguilera, whose show premieres next Tuesday, told USA Today that she's not concerned with the portrait being painted of her by the media. "I don't read tabloids. I try to keep a very good distance from that stuff," says Aguilera. "I'm just living my life. People go through divorces and ups and downs. I'm having to do it in the spotlight.
She goes on to say that she's an honest person and that she's being honest with herself about the changes she needs to make in her life. "That's in part why I got the divorce in the first place," Aguilera says. "It's a new beginning for me. It's all positivity for me. I've been through some hard things, but I'm on the up and up. It feels good."
