It looks like Father Alberto Cutie will finally get a chance to live up to his nickname, Father Oprah!
FOX is going to test a one-hour talk show featuring the Miami-based religious figure, who grabbed national headlines when he left the Roman Catholic church for the Episcopal faith after a sex scandal and married his lover. He and his now-wife, Ruhama, have a newborn baby daughter.
"This really completes our roster with Debmar-Mercury: Tyler Perry, Wendy Williams, South Park, Jeremy Kyle and, now, a minister. Seriously, daytime television could use a fresh face and a distinctive voice. We believe we've found one in Father Albert Cutie, whose unique perspective makes him perfect for this role," said Frank Cicha, senior vice president of programming for Fox Television Group.
This won't be the Father's first foray into TV. He was the first ever priest to host a secular daytime talk show with Padre Alberto which ran on Telemundo in 1999. Telemundo also featured Cutie in a weekly talk show called America en Vivo.
The show will be tested with audiences this summer, and if it's determined that it could be a hit, you could be seeing Father Cutie on TV again very soon!
