The future looks bright for Latinos in television. This pilot season, newcomers like Daniella Pineda and former The X Factor contestant Hayley Orrantia have joined seasoned TV stars like Mark Consuelos and Miguel Ferrer in landing roles in potential shows for the broadcast networks.
Some, like Demián Bichir in his first starring role on American television, have already seen the networks send their projects to series. Here’s a look at the 27 Latinos appearing in television Pilots, as well as two Latina superstars who are producing pilots this season!
John Leguizamo, ‘Untitled Comedy Pilot’
If you’ve missed John Leguizamo’s 1995 Hispanic-oriented variety show House of Buggin', you’re in luck. The Colombia-born actor and stand-up comedian has landed a comedy pilot order at ABC. The still-untitled project, based on Leguizamo’s own life, will revolve around a Bronx-raised man living a fish-out-of-water life in New York’s Upper West Side as a husband to a privileged wife and father to children who may be getting too spoiled for their own good.
