EXCLUSIVE: Paulina Rubio Talks X Factor & Demi Lovato

The newest X Factor judge, Paulina Rubio, is gearing up for the fourth season. As the show kicked off, millions of fans tuned in to last night’s Fox season premiere.

Latinas are no surprise to the judges’ table, with Jennifer Lopez returning to American Idol, and Christina Aguilera and Shakira alternating turns on The Voice.

What makes The X Factor different? Yes, groups are allowed. Also, the judges’ panel from Idol and The Voice boast two men and two women, while The X Factor pits Simon Cowell as the only male against three females.

Beyond those facts, Latinos can take changes one step further. The panel features not one, but two Latina judges: Demi Lovato and Rubio. Each talent represents different audiences and genres, all the while bridging the gap between both.

Yet when it comes to judging, Rubio insists, “We’re two totally different people.”

Rubio previously judged on Los Voz Kids, a reality singing competition for children ages 7-14. While both shows are musical competition shows, she insists that they are completely different.

“Nothing is the same. Each project is different. Working with kids is amazing, but now the responsibility’s bigger.”

With bigger responsibly and a new territory, it’s only fitting to turn to fellow Latina judge Lovato for advice.

“She has more experience. She’s been really supportive and helping me…giving me different tips,” said Rubio.

The Mexican singer, who landed her first record deal at seven years old, hand one thing to say about USA talent, “America shows off!”
