Basketball Wives returns to Vh1 on Sunday night at 8 p.m, and we caught up with the show's breakout star, Evelyn Lozada, to talk about the new season. Plus, Evelyn squashes rumors that she'll be starring on her own VH1 reality show with her new man, Chad Ochocinco.
Now that you’re engaged to a football player—and no longer with NBA star, Antoine Walker—are you going to be back for the second season of VH1’s Basketball Wives?
I get that question a lot! [Laughs] Yes, I’m still on Basketball Wives, I’m not going over to Football Wives. Season 1 was about whom we had dated and our background, but the new season is more about us as individuals. Season 2 premieres this Sunday night at 8 p.m. and the show is going to be an hour—last season it was 30 minutes.
Is it true that you and your fiancé Chad Ochocino are going to star in your own VH1 show about your engagement.
The day I tweeted the picture (of her engagement ring) everyone was like 'Oh my God, they’re engaged,’ and we got a couple of phone calls. But I haven’t heard anything since. So no, there’s no show in the works.
Is that something you might be interested in?
We’ve talked about it and I don’t know. I always hear that when you do a reality show with your fiancé or your husband, it’s like a curse! [Laughs] But I’m not opposed. If any good offers come through, we’ll see.
Do you know when and where you’re getting married?
My show is about to air and Chad’s been playing football (and Lord knows he’s been having a rough season) so once all of that is done we’ll be able to focus on the wedding. We haven’t decided on a date yet. We’re leaning towards either having the wedding in Miami or a destination wedding. I don’t want anything too big. I’m turning 35 and I want something intimate with my family and friends. But Chad is very creative and over the top, so he’ll want some R & B star to come and sing at the wedding. I’ll probably have a good eight bridesmaids because they’re the good girlfriends that I grew up with—they’re true friends who have been with me way before my life got crazy. I want them all to be involved. For the dress, I’m not really the ball gown kind of chick. I want something sexy—kind of like a see-through sexy mermaid style on top.
Do you and Chad want to have little Ochocincos running around in the near future?
You know, I definitely want an Ochocinco. I don't know if I want cinco, but I want an Ochocinco. I have a daughter; she's 17 and she's about to go to college. I still have the desire to be a mother and I did such a great job with her that I'm like, 'Let me do this again.' I would love to have a boy. And Chad wants more kids too. He has four, but wants more.
