A new episode of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop airs tonight at 9 p.m. EST and, in time for Thanksgiving, we spoke exclusively to one of the show’s stars. Part-Puerto Rican, part-Dominican celebrity stylist Emily Bustamante, best known as Emily B on the show, spoke to us about who she’s most thankful this year – her mami.
“She’s my best friend and my everything,” Emily B said of her Puerto Rican mother, who had the stylist when she was just a teenager. “Her opinion really matters to me.”
“My mother always told me to put God first in my relationships. I realized that in order to put God first, then that means I had to go out on my own,” Emily B said. “Because my situation wasn’t in line with that and when I sought God and asked him to lead my path, I’m in just a different place emotionally.” The fashionista was talking about her turbulent long-term relationship with part-Dominican hip-hop star Fabolous. Much of the first season of the VH1 show centered on Emily B's relationship with Fab.
“Without her, this experience would’ve been tough,” she said. “In every walk in life, I need my mom and I’m so thankful for her… so I would definitely be thankful for the wonderful relationship that I have with my mother.”
We're all thankful for our mamis!
