America Ferrera sat down with gal pal Reese Witherspoon to chat about challenges they faced during their college years, in this exclusive clip from AT&T and Hello Sunshine’s Shine On with Reese. The series spotlights female creators and their unique success stories in Witherspoon’s first-ever unscripted series.
Ferrera, who started her career in the popular indie film Real Women Have Curves, opened up about having to take a hiatus from her studies at the University of Southern California when the series that changed her life came knocking.
“I had to leave college right towards the end...I was like a year from graduating,” Ferrera tells Witherspoon in the clip.
“Ugly Betty came up and I had to take a leave of absence. I did [that], then six years later when I was 29 and Betty was done, I came back to school. It was amazing!”
Witherspoon also reflects on her time at school and admits she regrets not graduating.
“I went to Stanford and I didn’t graduate,” the Big Little Lies star confessed. “So every time I come back on a college campus, I’m like, ‘I should come back!”
Shine On With Reese can be watched via DirecTV Now and AT&T Uverse.
