Eva Longoria Parker On Giving Back and Jesse Metcalfe's Return to "Desperate Houswives"

ABC

Eva Longoria Parker spoke to E! News about Jesse Metcalfe's pending return to the Desperate Housewives set and how she came to be involved in a variety of philanthropic causes.

You may remember Jesse as John Rowland, the hunky high schooler Longoria Parker's saucy character Gabriel bedded in the premiere season. He made a name for himself, well, mainly by being smoking hot and filming a liberal amount of scenes sans t-shirt. But Parker says that will not be the case when he makes his return to Wisteria Lane, "I don't think we'll be seeing him shirtless. You'll be seeing a very different John Rowland."

But Parker isn't half of the maneater her character Gabriel is, last September, she even fessed up to Latina that she's more of a "1950's housewife" than a desperate one in real life. Which explains her dedication to a variety of causes. Next week, she'll be hosting Padres Contra el Cancer's ninth annual El Sueño de Esperanza fundraising gala and auction at the Hollywood Palladium with one of her best friends, comedian George Lopez. The Chicano duo will also be sharing hosting duties for the NCLR's Alma Awards, set to air the following week, Sept. 19th on ABC at 8PM.

Parker credits her philanthropic nature to her mother and sister, explaining, "My eldest sister was mentally disabled, and she's a special needs child. My mother became a special education teacher because of it. Since I can remember speaking and walking, we were always volunteering." Nowadays, the actress claims that she dedicates about 80 percent of her time to giving back. Currently in addition to her work with Padres Contra El Cancer, she's producing a documentary film called Harvest, about child farm workers in the U.S. and she shot a PSA promoting volunteerism at the request of first lady Michelle Obama.
