Is the world ready for a series featuring 10 hilarious Mexicans? Of course, they are ready and here they come! Amazon Prime Videos announced today that they signed Eugenio Derbez to lead an all-star cast of Mexican comedians in a six-part variety series titled, LOL: Last One Laughing set to debut later this year.

The Overboard star will pit 10 famed Mexican comedians against one another in a competition for a grand prize of one million Mexican pesos. The series, based on the Prime Original series Hitoshi Matsumoto from Japan, promises to introduce audiences in more than 200 countries and territories to some of the best comedic talent from Mexico.

“Last One Laughing is like nothing I’ve seen in comedy and certainly very different from anything I’ve done on television in my career. I’m really excited to show the world some of the amazing comedic talent coming out of my country,” said Derbez in a statement.

“I’m very proud to partner with Amazon Prime on this fresh and inventive show.”

Although the names of the comedians have yet to be announced, Amazon says they come from various styles including stand-up, character, improvisational and physical comedy, among others.

The series just wrapped production this morning in Mexico, so we're expecting much more information about it in the near future.

LOL: Last One Laughing, the series is showrun by Juan Maldonado of Litopos Producciones and is produced by Derbez and partner Ben Odell’s 3Pas Studios and Endemol Shine Boomdog.
