Edward James Olmos is making his return to television! The Mexican-American actor, best known for his roles in Battlestar Gallactica, Stand and Deliver and Selena, will join the cast of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in a recurring role. 

Marvel announced on Thursday that Olmos, 67, will play Robert Gonzalez, a character whose debut will have massive repercussions for the S.H.I.E.L.D. team. The company did not reveal any further details about his role.

"Edward James Olmos brings an amazing gravitas to any role he inhabits, something we knew we need for Robert Gonzalez," said Executive Producer and Marvel's Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. "When Olmos first appears on our series, everyone will have to take notice — including our favorite Agents."

The Oscar-nominated actor will join stars Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge and Nick Blood when the series returns on Tuesday, March 3 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
