Edgar Ramirez Loses Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor

Edgar Ramirez was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie at tonight's 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, and lost the award to fellow nominee, Barry Pepper (The Kennedys).

Ramirez, who gave an extraordinary performance as Venezuelan revolutionary, Ilich Ramírez Sánchez in the five and a half-hour-long movie, Carlos, was competing in a very tough category that included nominees like, Greg Kinnear (The Kennedys), William Hurt (Too Big To Fail), Idris Elba (Luther), and Laurence Fishburne (Thurgood). This was the first Emmy nomination for the Venezuelan actor, who earlier this year was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for TV.
