| 11/16/2012 - 13:22 |
While many believed Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan was on top of the world with a successful television show and celebrity clients, the 43-year-old dog trainer was suffering from depression and attempted suicide in 2010, reports People.
In February of that year, Cesar's 16-year-old pit bull named Daddy passed away. Then four months later, his wife, Illusion Millan, filed for divorce. "I was at the lowest level I had ever been emotionally and psychologically," he wrote in his blog.
After surviving the overdose, Cesar got on antidepressants, started exercising, and met a new partner, Jahira Dar, who he calls "the one."
The couple plan on getting married soon. "I am a traditional guy, so I like to do the whole parent thing," he said. "I know they are going to say yes, but I like the whole Cinderella story."
Cesar reflects on his suicide attempt and battling clinical depression for his upcoming documentary for Nat Geo Wild on November 25th titled, Cesar Millan: The Real Story.
