Eva Longoria really wants you to watch her new show Devious Maids.
The executive producer of the new Lifetime drama series and her team have worked to bring the show’s pilot episode in both English and Spanish, according to Fox News Latino.
The episode will be available on digital platforms beginning Sunday. Devious Maids’ actual premiere date is June 23, and each subsequent episode will be available in both languages the day after its Sunday airing.
The Lifetime network has expressed excitement over the show, stating that they’re “thrilled to work with our distribution partners on making Devious Maids available in both English and Spanish.” The network’s Executive Vice President and General Manager Rob Sharenow said the move to air the show in both languages was done “to maximize the show’s crossover appeal among the broadest range of their customers.”
The Marc Cherry series, which stars Judy Reyes, Roselyn Sanchez, Dania Ramirez, and Ana Ortiz, centers on the lives of women who work as maids for rich families in Beverly Hills.
The show hasn’t been received without criticism – some lashing out at the show for a perceived perpetuation of stereotypes about Latinos.
As the show’s executive producer, Eva Longoria has also received jabs.
