Curious George Gets a Latino Sidekick

One of our childhood favorites, Curious George, is back on PBS for its fifth season and bringing with it a Latin presence.

The 2010 Emmy Award winning show premiers with “George and Marco Sound it Out” on Labor Day, September 6, 2010. Viewers are introduced to George’s new buddy, Marco, an eight-year-old who rocks out in his family’s pan-Latin band—Lobos de Plata. How cool is he?

During the season, Marco infuses elements of Hispanic culture into George's life, including Latin food, music and celebrations.

Curious George is such a great ambassador to learning for kids,” said Ellen Cockrill, senior vice president of animation production for Universal Studios Family Productions. “In season five, George brings young viewers into the world of new cultures and the different social systems that tie cultures together.”
