Cuban Actor Danny Pino Books 'Law & Order: SVU!'

He won our poll last week, and now Cuban actor Danny Pino has won the vote of Law & Order: SVU executive producer, Dick Wolf. is reporting that the 37-year-old actor, who is best known for his role as Detective Scotty Valens on CBS' Cold Case (2003-2010), has landed a starring role on NBC's long-running procedural, Law & Order: SVU

Although it is widely known that Pino (and fellow Latino Kevin Alejandro) auditioned for the opportunity to replace departing SVU star, Christopher Meloni last week, the article doesn't indicate whether Pino will actually be replacing Meloni, or if the seasoned actor is joining the cast as an additional series regular.

Still, Dick Wolf has released the following statement: “I’m very pleased that we have two amazing actors joining the cast,” Wolf said of Pino and actress, Kelli Giddish, who is also reportedly joining the show. "I know this combination will give us the opportunity to explore the world of SVU with new eyes.”

NBC President, Robert Greenblatt also released a statement: “Kelli and Danny are two great actors who will join a proven cast headed by Mariska Hargitay as this exceptional series heads into a very promising 13th season.” has reached out to Pino's reps to confirm the story.
