The National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts announced that they are honoring Cristina Saralegui with the 2010 Raúl Juliá Award for Excellence. Although her Univision television talk show is taping it's last season this year, her accomplishments over the last two decades cannot be ignored.

"I am honored to be recognized by this illustrious award named after the late, great and world renowned actor Raul Julia," Saralegui said. "I salute NHFA and their leadership over these last 14 years."

In case your wondering why she is being honored, consider this—El Show de Cristina aired for 20 years and has consistently featured the best and brightest Latin celebrities. Cristina's also won an Emmy, launched an eponymous magazine and a line of home decor at Kohl's, and was named one of the "25 Most Influential Hispanics in America" by Time magazine. We'd have to agree that those are all pretty excellent accomplishments.

Congrats Cristina!

Mariela Rosario,

I'm a raging opinionista and I love to share my ramblings on everything from pop culture to food to stuff that makes me laugh & cry! I've worked in all types of media (TV, film, print) and was previously the online editor at Latina magazine before joining Mamás Latinas. On most nights you can find me working my way through my library of cookbooks or playing with my puppy Lola (my only child so far). I have a wonderful hubby who shares my passion for any and all kinds of travel. Together, we've formed a semi-professional wine drinking team.
