Cote de Pablo’s 15 Best 'NCIS' Moments Ever! (Video)

In the final seconds of tonight's NCIS, our favorite character Ziva (Chilean actress Cote de Pablo) and Tony (Michael Weatherly) got broadsided by a car and then the show cut to an image of a bloody hand reaching out for Ziva.

Could this mean that Ziva Davis is dead? Say it ain't so!

But it may be true, especially since Cote hasn't yet signed on to return for another season...

Whatever the outcome, we LOVE Ziva and she will always be our favorite NCIS character. And to that end, we're taking a look back at Cote's 15 greatest moments on NCIS

1. Cote de Pablo 1

Ziva & Tony’s First Meeting

There’s a great deal of sexual tension between Cote de Pablo’s character Ziva David and NCIS special agent Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), as immediately evidenced in their first meeting. De Pablo’s character overhears the tail end of DiNozzo’s intimate telephone conversation during her first appearance in season three’s premiere episode. And in true Ziva form, she doesn’t let Tony live it down.

2. Cote de Pablo 2

Slow down, Ziva. Slow down!

In the 50th episode of NCIS, the first to feature de Pablo in the opening credits, an irritated Ziva drives “for the first time after a six-month mission in the U.K.” But instead of showing any signs of being rusty, she speeds through Washington, D.C. traffic like a bat out of hell. Something her passengers, including Tony, don’t appreciate!

3. Cote de Pablo 3

Undercover Lovers!

Talk about taking an assignment sexually. I mean, seriously! In “Under Covers,” Ziva and Tony go undercover as a crazy-in-love couple and have to make their relationship look real when they check into a hotel, just in case they’re being surveilled. “This episode was so much fun to shoot. Cote de Pablo, who plays Ziva, came to me right before we were shooting the first scene where we kissed, and said, ‘I’ve never kissed anyone on camera before,’” recalls Michael Weatherly (Tony). “I was expecting this timid little bird kiss, like a little peck, but she was like a lioness—she practically ate my head off! This is where TIVA (Tony+Ziva) started. We were told to really have fun with it, they wanted a sexy thing happening, and Cote delivered. I was just sort of along for the ride.”
Season 3 / Episode 8, “Under Covers”

4. Cote de Pablo 4

Sit & Spill!

Cote de Pablo has described her character as "completely different from anyone else on the show," adding that "she's been around men all her life; she's used to men in authority. She's not afraid of men." Ziva, often portrayed as calmly aggressive, isn’t easily intimidated or rattled… Until she falls out of her chair, that is!
Season 5 / Episode 2, “Family”

5. Cote de Pablo 5

The Temptress

Cote de Pablo has embarked on a career as a singer-songwriter in real life. And, she had the chance to show the world just how talented she is as a performer in season six’s premiere episode, “Last Man Standing.” De Pablo, working undercover in Morocco after her liaison position with NCIS was terminated by Director Leon Vance, performs an oh-so-seductive bilingual (English/French) rendition of Tom Waits' "Temptation" in a lounge while dressed in a slinky satin dress with a low-low-low cut back. Her full performance of the song appears on the NCIS: The Official TV Soundtrack.
Season 6, Episode 1, “Last Man Standing”

6. Cote de Pablo 6

She’s Not Normal!

Despite professing “I am Normal People!” in this hilarious scene that illustrates the sexual tension between Ziva and Tony, de Pablo’s character is NOT normal… at least when it comes to her ability to speak multiple languages. From crooning in French to arguing with her travel agent in Hebrew, Cote de Pablo has impressively proven that she’s a master linguist while speaking all of the languages required for her character.
Season 6, Episode 5, “Nine Lives”

7. Cote de Pablo 7

Ziva’s got a gun… and she knows how to use it! Having worked in a special Mossad unit that specialized in assassinations, paramilitary operations, sabotage, and psychological warfare, de Pablo’s character learned how to shoot. And, she demonstrated her shooting abilities to perfection with one shot in season six’s “Deliverance” episode.
Season 6, Episode 15, “Deliverance”

8. Cote de Pablo 8

Don’t Push Her Buttons

Since being introduced in season three, Cote de Pablo’s character has proven that she’s one tough cookie. Ziva never shies away from a physical altercation; whether it’s with a dangerous suspect or the man she’s harboring strong feelings for, as evidenced in this clip from the season six finale, “Aliyah,” where she takes down Tony during a heated argument after he fatally shot her boyfriend Michael Rivkin.

9. Cote de Pablo 9

Ziva’s Heroes – Part I

At the end of season six, Ziva tells Gibbs (Mark Harmon) she can’t work with Tony anymore since she no longer trusts him. Shortly after returning to Mossad full-time, she’s sent on a mission to take down a terrorist in Somalia. However, after one member of her team is killed and the other two injured, leaving her the only agent able to continue, she opts to continue on to the terrorist camp alone. She’s subsequently captured and suffers several months of torture and abuse. Believed to be dead in season seven’s first episode, Ziva is nonetheless found alive later in the episode. And guess who comes to her rescue?

10. Cote de Pablo 10

Ziva’s Heroes – Part II

After her rescue in the “Truth or Consequences” episode, Ziva is escorted out of the camp by Tony and McGee (Sean Murray) and sees the sniper who put a bullet in her terrorist captor’s head—Gibbs. The three bring Ziva back to where she belongs: NCIS.

11. Cote de Pablo 11

This Kiss, This Kiss

In this moving scene, Ziva apologizes to a “well-hydrated” Tony in the men’s restroom for attacking him after he killed her boyfriend Michael, adding “You had my always had my back,” before kissing him on the cheek. Later in the episode, Ziva is back at her desk at NCIS and all is right in the world.
Season 7, Episode 2, “Reunion”

12. Cote de Pablo 12

All-American Girl?

Following her rescue at the beginning of season seven, Ziva resigned from Mossad and applied to become a full-fledged NCIS agent and American citizen. She became a probationary agent pending her U.S. citizenship. In the season finale, upon passing her citizenship exam, Ziva is sworn in as a U.S. citizen with McGee, Ducky, Abby and Palmer present at her ceremony. Sadly, Tony and Gibbs were not in attendance, something that you could tell disappointed Ziva as she looked down at the two empty seats next to her.
Season 7, Episode 24, “Rule Fifty-One”

13. Cote de Pablo 13

One Good Turn Deserves Another

During season eight, Ziva had the chance to return the savior after Tony helped save her life in Somalia. While investigating a murder, the NCIS team uncovers a large domestic terrorist group composed mostly of wealthy homeowners living in a gated community. The NCIS team raids the community and arrests all of the members, only to find that the group has planted a bomb at a local softball game attended by numerous high profile politicians. While the NCIS team is evacuating the crowd, Ziva realizes the bomb is about to go off and gets to Tony in the knee of time. And, she later plays a little ball with Gibbs.
Season 8, Episode 5, “Dead Air”

14. Cote de Pablo 14

Aba, Aba

This season, Cote de Pablo gave an Emmy-worthy performance in the show’s “Shabbot Shalom” episode, which featured the return of Ziva’s estranged father, Mossad Director Eli David, who comes back to reunite with his daughter and repent his sins. At the end of the episode, while having a Shabat Diner at Director Vance's home, an unknown assassin opens fire on the house killing Ziva’s father. Upon seeing her father's bullet-riddled body, Ziva bursts into tears screaming "Aba, Aba," which translates to “Father, Father” in Hebrew, in one of the show’s most heartbreaking episodes. Ziva is upset because the last words she said to him were that he had sinned too greatly to be forgiven.
Season 10, Episode 11, “Shabbot Shalom”

15. Cote de Pablo 15

A Sad Goodbye

Following the death of her father, de Pablo’s character heads to Israel to give the eulogy at his funeral. But not before saying an emotional, tear-filled goodbye to Tony, who shows up because she always forgets her “gum and magazines" when she flies. And he brings Ziva (and us) to tears when he tells her “At lo levad,” which is Hebrew for “You are not alone.”
Season 10, Episode 12, “Shiva”
