There was plenty of star-studded excitement and surprise moments during Sunday night's American Music Awards (like Enrique Iglesias winning "Favorite Latin Artist" and Chris Brown beating Coldplay for "Artist of the Year"--hooray!), but our personal highlight was, of course, Christina Aguilera's 6-plus minute opening performance. Sporting newly cropped bangs, the star blazed through her all-time biggest singles in a nod to her recently released greatest hits album, Keeps Gettin' Better: A Decade of Hits, and we returned the love by waxing nostalgic over the past ten years of her impressive career. (Has it really been that long?!)
Christina kicked things off with her 2002 self-empowerment anthem, "I Am Beautiful," and segued into her current single "Keeps Gettin' Better" before heading back in time again to sing "Genie in a Bottle," "Dirrty," "Ain't No Other Man" and yet another one of her girl-pride classics, "Fighter." Through it all, we counted a whopping four costume changes (4.5 if you count the hat she threw on at the end) and countless signature Christina riffs.
