The book, appropriately titled To Selena, With Love, dove into Perez's personal world with the Tejano superstar. We laughed and cried while reading the guitarist's unconditional love for Selena pour on to the pages. It was amazing to get an insider's perspective to their private moments, while getting a glimpse at rare photos. And pretty soon, we will get to see Perez's entire book play out on the small screen.
Endemol Shine North America and Major TV announced today that they have optioned the rights to Selena's widower's book for a TV series, and will be made for both English and Spanish-speaking viewers. “I could not be more honored and humbled to launch Major TV with Endemol Shine and the captivating love story of the legendary Selena Quintanilla and Chris Perez," Raymond Garcia, the former publisher and founder of Celebra Books at Penguin Random House who is behind Major TV, said. "Having published To Selena with Love, I witnessed legions of fans moved to tears with a rare glimpse into the heart and soul of their eternal icon. I am very proud of Chris for sharing his deeply personal relationship for the first time on television.”
The TV adaptation for To Selena With Love will include other details, stories, perspective and insights from Perez that weren't highlighted in the book.
“I spent several years keeping the memories of my late wife bottled up inside,” Perez said in a statement. “To Selena with Love allowed me to finally embrace my experience and understand the void it could fill in the hearts of so many others. I am now ready to take the important step of being fully transparent and bringing my everlasting relationship to life on the screen.”
