Renowned Mexican American chef Aarón Sánchez will debut his new show, Aarón Loves New York, on Utilisima, the Fox-owned all-original Spanish Lifestyle cable network (which has been available on US cable networks since July 2010), on Sunday, November 6. “This is a really good representation of second generation Latinos rescuing their roots,” he says about the show. “It’s basically an insight into the way I cook and what I love and what inspires me everyday.”
The busy chef, who owns Centrico and Tacombi Restaurants in New York City, as well as the newer Mestizo Restaurant in Kansas City, Missouri has also authored two books. For the show, he will be traveling throughout New York City, highlighting different places that he loves or is inspired by, and making his favorite dishes from his restaurants. He’ll also be hosting different well-known guests, among them his famous mamá, chef Zarela Martínez!
The new show will be the first that the cable network has shot entirely in the U.S. and was made specifically for U.S. Latino audiences—and Chef Sánchez’s first foray into Spanish-language television (he costars on Food Network’s hit shows Heat Seekrs and Chopped).
“The idea for the show is that growing up here [in NYC], I was faced with so many different cultures that influenced me,” Sánchez says. “In my show, what you see is my love of other cultures, my friends, people I admire, people I respect, my family—and it all ends with us eating!”
The show airs at 8 PM, EST. Check local listings for specific times and cable carriers.
