BREAKING: CBS Fires Only Latina Anchor
| 11/30/2010 - 13:11 |
There is no longer a Latina in the main anchor chair at any of the major television networks.
CBS’s Early Morning Show has just fired Maggie Rodriguez, the only Latina main anchor for a network morning show. Rodriguez's firing is part of a massive overhaul of CBS' morning news broadcast team that included firing Rodriguez's co-anchor Harry Smith and weather forecaster, Dave Price.
Replacing Rodriguez and Smith as the morning show's new anchors are Chris Wragge and Erica Hill, who worked together anchoring CBS’ Saturday-morning show. Marysol Castro, who spent six years as the weather and features correspondent for the weekend edition of ABC’s Good Morning America, will join the show as a weather girl.
Over on NBC, Natalie Morales continues to co-host the 9 a.m. hour of The Today Show (but she isn’t a main anchor).
Will you miss seeing Maggie on the Early Morning Show?
