The emotions were running high during the elimination round on American Idol Thursday night. Our heads were spinning when Jessica Sanchez was announced in the bottom three along with contestants, Elise Testone and Joshua Ledet. The part-Mexican singer has wowed fans and the judges week after week with flawless covers of Beyonce’s “Sweet Dreams” and Whitney Houston’s “How Will I Know.”
To everyone’s shock – Sanchez was the singer with the least amount of votes. Host, Ryan Seacrest gave her the mic to sing possibly her final goodbye song when all of a sudden Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson, and Steve Tyler joined the 16-year-old on stage.
“This is crazy! You ain’t going home. Go sit down!” shouted J.Lo while looking fashionably chic in a tangerine-colored dress. Jackson also added, “This girl is one of the best singers in America. Are you kidding me.” He then confirmed that Sanchez would be saved and urged viewers at home, “Please, America, vote for the best.”
We have to say, we are so proud of how the teen singer handled herself. When Seacrest asked whether she was in shock by the results she told Seacrest, “Not at all. I don't expect anything. I just do what I do. Whatever happens happens. I just want people to know I've been working hard my whole life.”
We hope she brings it next week! Watch the American Idol elimination clip below and let us know your reaction to last night’s intense save.
