America Ferrera Nominated for Emmy Award

América Ferrera might want to clear some space on her mantle and start drafting up acceptance speeches, because the Ugly Betty star has been nominated for a 2008 Primetime Emmy award for her performance on the hit show.

She's up against some pretty tough competition in the Best Actress in a Comedy Series category, including Tina Fey (30 Rock), Christina Applegate (Samantha Who?), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (The New Adventures of Old Christine), and Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds), but we think América is a shoe-in (okay, so we're a little biased). This is América's second Emmy nomination and—hopefully—her second win (she took home the statuette last year).

América also has the added responsibility of being the only Latina nominated for an Emmy this year. Hopefully she'll take home gold and represent for all of her colleagues, from Eva Longoria Parker to Sara Ramirez, and especially her costar Ana Ortiz, who we think was robbed of a nomination.

Anyway, congrats, América! We can't wait to see what you'll wear on the red carpet!
