Syesha Mercado ("I Will Always Love You")
Part-Puerto Rican contestant Syesha Mercado channeled a young Whitney Houston during her performance of the Dolly Parton song, “I Will Always Love You.”
David Archuleta (“When You Believe”)
On American Idol season seven, the Honduran singer delivered a sublime performance of Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey’s Academy Award-winning song, “When You Believe.” We got chills as he sang the words, “Now we are not afraid/although we know there’s much to fear.” Fantastic!
Tatiana Del Toro ("Saving All My Love For You")
Sure, she was best known for being loud and somewhat annoying, but season 8 contestant Tatiana Del Toro showed off some seriously impressive vocals when she took on the song "Saving All My Love For You" from Whitney's self-titled debut album.
Karen Rodriguez ("You Give Good Love")
As much as we loved Karen Rodriguez’s bilingual versions of Selena’s and Mariah Carey’s hits, we have to admit that our favorite performance from the part-Dominican, part-Peruvian singer was her soulful performance of Whitney Houston’s “You Give Good Love” during her very first audition in L.A. The performance, which was like a breath of fresh air, was breezy and fun and proved that Karen had the makings of a young R & B superstar.
Lisa Tucker ("One Moment In Time")
The half-Belizian season 5 contestant won over judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson with her powerful rendition of Whitney's "One Moment In Time."
