The 61st Primetime Emmy Awards show is airing this Sunday at 8 p.m. on CBS, but I just can’t seem to get excited about the show—especially since the Emmys failed to nominate a single Latino in a major award category. So we at Vivo Por Tivo thought we’d make up for that by honoring the best Latin talent on television with our own awards. We are proud of our list of winners, which includes some of the best talent on television—Latino or otherwise! Without further ado, Latina.com proudly presents the 2009 Vivo Por TiVo Awards!
Best Lead Actor In A Comedy Series: Ricardo Chavira, Desperate Housewives
As Carlos Solis, Gaby’s (Eva Longoria Parker) husband on Desperate Housewives, Chavira does a wonderful job playing a mostly nice guy who is married to a narcissistic, materialistic, cheater of a wife, who can also be more than a little insensitive to his needs. While we love watching Carlos get irritated by Gaby, we have to admit that Chavira’s best scenes are those in which Carlos (who has spent some time in jail) shows Gaby that two can play her games, and that he can be just as petty, manipulative and ruthless as she is.
