It was one Latina street party, ironically, as Los Angeles fans lined up at The Grove since the wee hours of the morning for the grand opening of Topshop, a British retail chain.
While fans were surely excited for the official L.A. launch of the clothing giant, it appears the crowd was more excited for the artists attending, performing and sporting the trendy fashions.
X-Factor judge Demi Lovato, leg decked in a silver studded cast, headlined the opening with a killer performance of her hit, “Give Your Heart a Break.” Lovato recently slipped and broke her leg at her Los Angeles home, but she refused to let that prevent her from performing for her fans.
“I’m ready to rock,” Lovato told Extra. “I have a new single coming out, and there was absolutely nothing that was gunna stop me from letting this release.”
When asked what fans should expect from her new single, Lovato replied: “I think you guys can expect a little bit of rock, a little bit of pop, and a lot of fun.”
At what appears to be another X Factor reunion, Lovato was joined by a newly formed Syco/Epic Records group, Fifth Harmony. Fans, with homemade signs in tow, anticipated the girls' red-carpet appearance. Some lined up as early as 6 a.m. Tears were shed and screams wildly echoed, albeit in joy.
The five-girl group -- made up of (Mexican-American) Ally Brooke Hernandez; (half-Cuban, half-Mexican) Camila Cabello; (Cuban-American) Lauren Jauregui; Dinah Jane Hansen; and Normani Kordei -- were put together by talent mastermind Simon Cowell on Season Two of The X Factor.
Although the girls placed third, fans predict their success to be similar to One Direction. The hit boy band was famously brought together on the British X Factor under the direction of Cowell. They too placed third, and now enjoy mega success as worldwide superstars.
We caught up with the fab five at Mixology at the Grove, where they dished on everything from their X Factor journey and their upcoming album, to their favorite Latina celebrity and boys.
Look for the girls’ debut single soon, with an album expected to drop later this year.
