Wonder Woman Lynda Carter Set to Release New Album

As the strong-willed title character in the 70’s TV series, The New Adventures of Wonder Woman, there was nothing Lynda Carter couldn’t do. Funny how life imitates art! After a long, accomplished career in the acting biz, the versatile performer is getting ready to release a music album. The proud Latina told us all about it!

Tell us about your new CD!

I’m in the process of naming it. I’m vey proud of it. I've been involved in every part of the project from arranging to writing to all of it. The guys that I've been working with on it for the last three years — some of them are old friends of mine from my musical L.A. days and they’re out of Nashville now. I haven’t been in Nashville for 25 years. They're all really excellent players — my drummer is nominated for Drummer of the Year again at the American Country Music Awards for, I don't know, the 10th time or something! This was a labor of love for all of us.

Tell us about the sound of the album.

It's kind of like singing a playlist. They're all songs that you will recognize or that you’re familiar with, but you’re not familiar with them in the way that we’ve approached them.

Have you always been passionate about music?

I started singing at high school dances at age 14 and then on college campuses and college hangouts, and clubs. I was on the road right out of high school and went to Las Vegas and Reno and the Catskill mountains and all of the various places across the country singing. After that, i moved to L.A and did a little bit of studio singing. I was writing a lot of music back then and earned extra money by doing jingles or demos. And then when I got Wonder Woman, I got a record deal and sold three records. {Laughs}. Singing has always been a part of my life, but I didn't want to take my kids on the road so I quit.

You have a very bluesy tone to your voice.

Yeah! Thank you.

Is your new CD being relased in April?

I believe it is, yeah. We’re going to try to get it out as soon as possible, at least on ITunes. And we’ll find out how long it's going to take to ship it.

Given the fact that you're a legend and you've been in the industry for such a long time, is there anything you still long to do in the business?

I'd still like to do a comedy. I think it would be fun. I always think I'm funnier than I really am. {Laughs}. But I' very satisfied. I've got a really full life, I work hard, my kids are healthy and I'm married to a wonderful guy. That’s not to say it’s all roses —when you’re doing something you love there’s struggle involved. If it were all just a walk in the partk, it wouldn't be very interesting!
