Our Hot Guys cover star, Pitbull, helped announce this year’s American Music Awards nominees last week, and surprise, surprise, the Cuban American rapper nabbed two nominations himself! The 30-year-old rapper was nominated for Favorite Male Artist and Favorite Artist in Latin Music. The list of nominees was revealed by Mr. 305 and rapper Nicki Minaj at a Los Angeles press conference.
Not only is he up for awards, but Tr3s recently reported that Mr. 305 will also co-host the ceremony with the rapper! We don't know how the cubano manages it all.
Pitbull isn’t the only Latino to be nominated for the annual awards ceremony, which is in its 39th year. Part-Puerto Rican crooner Bruno Mars was also nominated for two awards—Favorite Artist in adult contemporary music and Favorite Male Artist in pop or rock music, where he will compete against Mr. Worldwide.
Perhaps the fiercest competition lies in Favorite Artist in Latin Music; Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias, and Jennifer Lopez are all vying for the award. We’re curious to see who wins—all three have collaborated with one another recently, and Pitbull and Iglesias are currently touring together on Iglesias’ Euphoria Tour.
Mr. 305, who rocked the house at Latina’s 15 Anniversary Party in New York City several weeks ago, is also set to perform at the American Music Awards, to be held Nov. 20 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Besides Pitbull's performance, Tr3s also reports that J.Lo and part-Ecuadorian songstress Christina Aguilera are also set to rock the stage. Billboard has the entire list of nominees.
Congrats to the nominees!
