Selena Quintanilla's passing may have been over 15 years ago, but her spirit shines bright and lives on in her music. In honor of her legacy, the late Tejano singer’s family is releasing a re-mastered album titled, “Enamorada de Ti” (“In Love With You”), which releases today. In celebration of the new project, we are taking a look back at our favorite Selena performances of all time.
In 1994, Selena took the stage and wowed fans at Univision’s Premio Lo Nuestro award show. Her stage presence was energetic and graceful as she sang a combination of her hits "Amor Prohibido" and "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom." During this time, Selena’s album Amor Prohibido was a commercial success in Mexico and the U.S. The young singer produced four number one Latin hits and reached gold with over 400,000 copies sold in the U.S. alone.
There's no doubt that Selena's style defined 90s glam. The Texan singer hit the stage in her signature look with red lipstick and a black top showing her midriff during her live performance of, "Missing My Baby." The track was featured in her Anthology album, which included a mix of cumbia, mariachi, and pop beats.
Selena performed her timeless hit single "Si Una Vez," which won the BMI Pop Music Award for "Song of the Year" in 1994. She treated fans with another classic, "El Chico Del Apt 512," about crushing on a neighbor. Come on. Who can't relate to that one even today?
Selena's performance of "La Carcacha" during the Festival Acapulco inspired one of the scenes in her bio-flick Selena starring, Jennifer Lopez. We love her dance moves and the love she received from the crowd!
Saborcito! Selena gave an epic live performance at the Houston Livestock Show in the Astrodome back in 1995. She sang her hit, "Como la Flor," to a sold-out audience. During that show, she would become the Queen of Tejano music forever.
