Selena Gomez & The Scene are parting ways, for the moment anyway. Part-Mexican Gomez and the members of her band The Scene, drummer Gregory Garman, bass guitarist Joey Clement and keyboard player Dane Forrest, will be going their separate ways while Gomez pursues other avenues of entertainment. “This year is all about films and acting and I want my band to play music wherever with whoever,” Gomez stated according to Us Magazine. “We will be back, but it will be a good while. I love them and I you guys.”
As a group, Selena Gomez & The Scene have recorded 3 albums: Kiss & Tell, A Year Without Rain and When the Sun Goes Down, and are just coming off of their South American tour. The temporary parting is a bittersweet one for Gomez who posted a photo of the band to her instagram account writing, “I can’t express enough how grateful I am for this group. They have been with me since day one and I can’t believe it’s actually over…I could not have done any of this without you. Currently bawling my eyes out. I’ll miss you guys.”
Gomez is slated to star opposite James Franco and Vanessa Hudgens in Spring Breakers and voice a character in Adam Sandler’s upcoming animated film Hotel Transylvania.
