This week, I wanted to shine light on some Latinos that may celebrate big wins during the 54th annual Grammys that airs Feb 12 8/7c.
Leading in multiple nominations and dominating for Latinos (and Filipinos) is the island boy, Bruno Mars with the most Grammy nominations for any Latino this year. Nominated for categories including: “Record of the Year,” “Album of the Year,” “Song of the Year,” “Best Pop Solo Performance,” and “Best Pop Vocal Album,” Bruno has a big chance of walking out a winner. The pop singer, who just got off his first-ever Central and South American tour, now gets to concentrate on an even bigger performance the night of the Grammys where he is also set to hit the stage. With nominations and a performance to look forward to, I'm sure Bruno is ready for the night of his life!
Christina Aguilera, who is lending her voice on the hit show The Voice, made the list on this year’s nominees when she assisted in the world-hit track, "Moves like Jagger" with Maroon 5. They picked up a nomination for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.” Good luck!
Of course, it’s nothing but sexiness all over the “Best Latin Pop/Rock/or Urban Album” category with nominees such as, Calle 13, Gustavo Galindo, La Vida Boheme, Los Amigos Invisibles, and Maná. For the category of “Best Regional” or “Tejano Album” the nominees are Pepe Aguilar, Mariachi Divas De Cindy Shea, Paquita La Del Barrio, and Joan Sebastian.
Also there is the category of “Best Banda” or “Norteño Album” to look forward to and the nominees are, El Güero Y Su Banda Centenario, Los Tigres Del Norte, Los Tucanes De Tijuana, and Michael Salgado. Last but not least, in the category for “Best Tropical”or “Latin Album,” and the nominees are Edwin Bonilla, Cachao, and José Rizo's Mongorama.
A night to remember for many Latinos is soon to come! I'll be back next week with a break down of the winners as I head off to LA myself to cover the Grammys as the Official Social Media Correspondent which is just a fancy way of saying I'll be backstage tweeting away for you guys!
