It was the night all music lovers were waiting for!
Premio Lo Nuestro 2012 Latin Music Awards landed at the American Airlines Arena in Miami last night, and was all about dynamic performances and major wins from Prince Royce and Shakira.
Besides romancing his fans on stage for a special performance of “Las Cosas Pequenas,” the bachatero beat out Romeo Santos and the legendary Juan Luis Guerra for “Male Artist of the Year” and “Tropical Artist of the Year.” Royce also won the award for “Best Collaboration of the Year” for his feature on Daddy Yankee’s track “Ven Conmigo.”
Bachata wasn’t the only musical genre that dominated the night. Colombian pop star, Shakira, snagged the most awards by a female pop artist including, “Artist of the Year,” Album of the Year” for “Sale el Sol,” and “Song of the Year” for the infectious track featuring Pitbull “Rabiosa.”
Shaki was unable to attend the award show, but at least her collaborating partner Mr. 305 was there to set the stage on fire! The Cuban rapper served up a blazing performance of “International Love” featuring Chris Brown. The show’s opener was one of our favorite performances of the night.
Chino y Nacho didn't have the same luck as far as a seamless performance. The group's showcase suffered technical difficulties after Nacho was suppose to descend from the top of the stage, but was unfortunately stuck in the process. We are glad the duo continued on and made the best of it!
Regional Mexican music star Espinoza Paz, pop singer Paulina Rubio, and Tito el Bambino were just some of the other acts that graced the stage.
