Next year, we'll all have a chance to hear Selena Quintanilla’s voice again! Fer father Abraham, recently confirmed that he has a bunch of unreleased tracks recorded by the Tejana singer before her life was cut tragically short in 1995 when she was murdered by Yolanda Saldivar at a Texas motel.
Selena’s father said he owns five Selena tapes from before the singer was signed to the music company, EMI. Selena was a teenager when she recorded the songs.
“There's a total of 50 [unedited] songs. We picked 10 of those songs and we're currently working on refreshing the music,” he said. “We want to rejuvenate their sound, bring them up-to-date.”
A.B. Quintanilla, Selena’s brother, is helping to manage the project and may add new cumbia elements to the songs. According to her family’s plan, the 50 unedited songs will spread across five CDs, the first of which will be released by early 2012.
