MTV Tr3s Announces 'Best Latino Artist' Nominees For The 2012 VMA's

The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards prepares to blast off on September 6th at 8pm live at the Staples Center, and MTV Tr3s isn’t leaving the building without awarding the VMA for “Best Latino Artist.” The nominees have officially been announced today and include: Jennifer Lopez, Juanes, Pitbull, Wisin y Yandel, and Romeo Santos.

“Words can’t describe how excited I am to be nominated as one of Tr3s’ Best Latino Artists,” said the former Aventura lead singer. Romeo is without a doubt one of the top contenders in this category. The Bronx native managed to tap into the ultimate formula for success for his debut album, Formula, Vol. 1, which has dominated the Latin Billboard charts with singles like, “Mi Santa” and “Promise.”

Juanes is also a strong lead after the release of his mega hit MTV Unplugged album. The latest project by the Colombian roquero offered three new singles including a re-mastered version of his hit, “Me Enamora,” and his hit single, “La Señal,” which was produced by legendary hitmaker Juan Luis Guerra.

J.Lo and Mr. 305 may be competing for the moon man in Tr3s’ category, but they both snagged the “Best Choreography” MTV nomination for their collaborative hit track, “Dance Again.” We think her blazing dance sequence with her boyfriend, Casper Smart, will surely win this one!

Good luck to all of the contenders! Check out the winner of the “Best Latino Artist” on MTV Tr3s September 15th at 9pm (ET/PT) and read the entire list of 2012 VMA nominees here.
