EXCLUSIVE: Marc Anthony on the Future of Salsa Music & His New Album

What’s your motivation after so many years in the music business?

For me it’s always been about staying true to who I am, to my music, to creating songs that I can live with for the rest of my life. Also, I’ve always presented my music from a universal place versus presenting my music only to Latin audiences because it’s in Spanish. I’m a true believer that quality rules over quantity and that’s the way I’ve done everything in my life. I strive to maintain the essence of who I am as an artist instead of wanting to sound like everyone else because it’s the next big thing.

We’ve seen a lot of pictures of you vacationing and spending time with your children this summer, just before the tour. What’s the best thing about being a father?

Oh, everything! I savor every moment I’m with them. They’re all amazing kids. They’re so loving and so smart, and to witness their maturation is priceless. They’re a constant source of inspiration to me. Even though I have a busy schedule, I make sure we spend as much time together as possible.
