The news surrounding Juanes’ highly anticipated MTV Unplugged album recording has just gotten sweeter!

Tr3s announced yesterday that the award-winning Colombian rocker will not only perform on stage – but he will also open it up to his most talented fans. How so? Through a competition, of course! Did you think it would be that easy to share the stage with one of Latin music’s most beloved artists!? We didn’t think so.

Juanes to Receive Hispanic Heritage Award

Below are the details of the Unplugged with Juanes contest:

Those who want to enter Juanes’ competition have until Jan. 9, 2012 to submit videos of their rendition of one of his hit singles; “A Dios le Pido, “Me Enamora, “Fotografía, or “La Soledad. The competition, which is being powered by OurStage.com, allows fans to judge and rank the top 40 performances for Juanes’ final selection from now until Jan. 17, 2012. Participants must be 18 and over and citizens of the United States and Puerto Rico. An all-expense paid trip to Miami and the once in a lifetime opportunity to perform a duet with Juanes will be awarded to the contest’s winner.

That sounds like a pretty sweet deal to us.

Juanes Recording First Ever Live Album for MTV Unplugged!

We were excited to report the news about Juanes’ MTV Unplugged album last week; for the album’s recording, the colombiano will be under the leadership of none other than legendary Dominican singer/songwriter Juan Luis Guerra. In an interview with Univision, 39-year-old Juanes said he feels like he’s in the “best part” of his life. “At first I’m going to come out with a live album in the next year, which is something I’ve never done, so I’m excited about that,” he said. “It will have a few new songs and then down the road I’ll record the new studio album.”
