Juan Luis Guerra may be a legend in the music game, but he's not above collaborating with the next generation of talent. The Dominican singer announced that he recently hit the studio with Juanes and is working on a duet with the Colombian pop star. What's more, he hopes to collaborate soon with other young artists, including merenguero El Prodigio and bachata supergroup Aventura.
"I'd like to record with El Prodigio to continue pushing forward traditional Dominican music, and with Aventura as well, although I haven't had a conversation with them," said Guerra. Though the singer's heart clearly still lies with musica típica from the DR, the collaboration with Juanes points to a broadening of his sound, perhaps in the same vein as "Bendita Tu Luz," his 2006 duet with Mexican stadium rockers, Maná.
Guerra delivered the news during a press conference announcing his upcoming South American tour, La Travesía, and special Valentine's Day concert at Santo Domingo's Olympic Stadium. What we want to know is, when is he coming back to perform in the States?
Here's hoping that Juanes and JLG share their collabo with the world soon, so they can inevitably knock every reggaeton duo and 15-member norteño band off the charts and make the world a better place.
