It’s been 18 years since Jennifer Lopez portrayed Selena Quintanilla in the movie Selena, but the singer will once again get the opportunity to honor her. Lopez is set to perform a musical tribute to the late singer at the Billboard Latin Music Awards on April 30, Billboard reports.
The announcement came on an important day, too; Billboard announced the news on what would have been Selena’s 44th birthday. According to TIME, Telemundo also announced the performance on Al Rojo Vivo.
“It’s an honor, a great honor to be able to, 20 years after her death, to do a tribute for Selena. She continues to be someone that inspires,” Lopez told the show. “It’s something that excited me very much. And I want to do something special, very special, just like she was, in this tribute.”
The awards air on Thursday, April 30 at 7pm EST on Telemundo. Tune in to see J.Lo’s once-in-a-lifetime tribute to the Tejano queen!
